Vanessa Tran
Attorney
Vanessa’s practice primarily focuses on the representation of nonprofits and public entities in the development, financing, and preservation of affordable, multi-family rental housing, with an emphasis on projects financed with low income housing tax credits, tax-exempt bonds, federal, state, and local housing subsidies. She works with clients through the entire life cycle of a project, from site acquisition, finance structuring, construction, operations, and refinancing. Vanessa also has considerable expertise in advising clients in structuring and implementing year 15 investor exits and property transfers.
Vanessa received her B.S. in Public Policy, Management and Planning from the University of Southern California and her law degree from Seattle University. Prior to joining Kantor Taylor and obtaining a law degree, Vanessa worked as a developer for BRIDGE Housing Corporation where she participated in the creation of over 900 affordable housing units throughout Southern California.
Vanessa is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Housing Development Consortium of Seattle-King County, where she co-chairs its Nominating Committee. Vanessa is also a member of the Filipino Lawyers of Washington and previously served on its Board from 2020-2022.
Vanessa has a passion for mission-oriented work and helping clients in every step of the way. Outside of work, Vanessa is a proud mom of two school-aged boys and has been known to read loan documents as bedtime stories. Whether she’s teaching her kids something new or supporting a client through an issue, Vanessa brings the same sincerity and heart into all she does.
